about

T-Tops side recorded by Jason Jouver at +/-
Mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth

Reviews:

"Nothing but riffs... reminiscent of certain MELVINS eras, a little AmRep, Some JESUS LIZARD snarls... More than enough weird crammed in to keep it interesting." - MRR

"T-Tops immediately take the listener on a dark and grungy noise rock ride, with a sound not unlike what you might have found amongst records on Amphetamine Reptile or early Sub Pop Records releases from the late ‘80s or early ‘90s." - Razorcake

"T-Tops have me imagining what Clockcleaner would’ve sounded like if they played stoner riffs, and I suppose the clear answer there is “The Melvins”. Lots of long, sticky riffs, harsh vocals, nothing too fast (or doomy slow), with classic-rock nods given the proper kick in the pants. Not bad!" - Matt Korvette (Yellow Green Red)

Pittsburgh bands square off outside the film shoot scene; hopefully no one leaves bloodied after a mic stand beatdown and collapses in the lobby of the Hyatt a la New Edition vs. Guy ’89. Cyrus Gold features my old bud Justin Pellissero from the band Davenport (the good one, from Pittsburgh), and what these fellows are doing doesn’t steer that far off from that great, unheralded group, except maybe to add a little more metallic songcraft into their work. The three tracks here are the sort of mathematical studda-step post-HC that’s been going since 1.6 Band and probably a bit before, rolling together every non-metal Relapse style band from DEP to Torche into one sound. They get going for sure but due to the number of parts in each track, all three songs seem way longer than they are. Plenty of riffs though, quantitatively. On this one T-Tops embraces a somewhat doomier side than evidenced on their kinda squeaky clean debut, with two longer, slower groovers sawing off the edges of the middle track “Stunted, Lowly Dolt,” which picks up pieces that fell off of Tar, Helmet, Surgery, and a couple other Amrep bands and somehow constructs a street-legal automobile from them.
